  • Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D and biomanufacturing, to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs and expectations.

  • Manage the entire sales cycle, from lead generation and proposal development to contract negotiation and execution.

Market Research and Competitive Analysis

  • Stay informed on market trends, particularly within the Food Tech and Cosmetics industries, and use this knowledge to inform business development strategies.

  • Continuously monitor the competitive landscape to ensure the company is positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the fermentation technology space.

Financial Oversight and Reporting

  • Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet growth objectives.

  • Provide regular reports to executive leadership on sales performance, partnership opportunities, and overall business development progress.

  • Stay current with industry advancements, technological trends, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decisions.

Key Profile Attributes

  • Strong business development experience, ideally with a proven sales track record in the Food Tech industry (companies producing alternatives to meat) or the Cosmetics industry (focused on flavors and fragrances).

  • Experience selling from within a Life Science company, preferably from a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in fermentation technologies (e.g., ThermoFisher, Patheon, Lonza).

  • Deep network within the Food Tech, Cosmetics, and Life Sciences industries, with a demonstrated ability to leverage connections to generate new business and sales.

  • Proven experience in selling multi-year outsourced manufacturing contracts, particularly in the context of fermentation-based technologies.

  • A career trajectory that showcases consistent success in sales and new business development, with at least 3 years of tenure in each previous role.

  • Ideally, experience in early-stage companies, demonstrating flexibility, innovation, and a hands-on approach.

  • Strong interpersonal skills—able to "talk to anybody about anything"—with the ability to build trust and rapport with senior decision-makers and stakeholders across diverse industries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in a technical field such as Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • At least 7-10 years of sales and business development experience, specifically within the Life Sciences, Food Tech, or Cosmetics industries.
