We are proud to partner with a leading and rapidly growing global distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients. Our client provides innovative solutions to the pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial sectors, offering high-quality raw materials, intermediates, and specialty chemicals that support product development and manufacturing needs.


As they continue to expand their footprint in the UK and broader European market, they are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to drive client growth and strategic partnerships within the specialty chemicals sector.



Location:


UK-based, with remote working and travel as required



Key Responsibilities:



  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial clients in need of specialty chemicals and raw materials.

  • Drive revenue growth by strategically positioning the company as a trusted partner within the UK market.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers in the pharmaceutical, industrial, and specialty chemical sectors.

  • Develop tailored proposals and commercial strategies that align with client needs, ensuring a seamless and value-driven customer experience.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including technical, supply chain, and regulatory teams, to ensure successful product delivery.

  • Provide insights on market trends, competitive landscape, and client needs to support strategic decision-making and continuous business improvement.

  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to enhance market visibility and generate new opportunities.

  • Work closely with marketing to refine messaging, enhance lead generation efforts, and support targeted outreach campaigns.



Key Experience & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Proven track record in business development within the specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical, or biotech space.

  • Deep understanding of chemical supply chain, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific challenges.

  • Demonstrated success in selling specialty chemicals, raw materials, and intermediates to Biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the UK.

  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to drive and close complex, high-value deals.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with a strategic and results-driven mindset.
