Job Description: Associate Director, Commercial Training and Development



Reports to: Senior Director of Training and Development



Opportunity


The Associate Director of Training and Development (T&D), reporting to the Senior Director of T&D, is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and active management of training strategies, plans, and processes to support organizational goals for the Commercial Organization in the U.S. This role will report to the Senior Director (SD) of T&D.



Responsibilities


The Associate Director of T&D assists in all training programs involving customer-facing roles, with a primary focus on the field sales team and potential to support training for other functions within the commercial organization.




  • Play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of all training programs that directly support the strategic and operational objectives of the Commercial organization and the Director of T&D.

  • Collaborate with various internal and external business partners to establish training and development processes that include comprehensive and continual assessment of stakeholder needs (learning tools and resources/program/technology/metrics).

  • This individual will need to work routinely with the Head of US Marketing, Senior Director of T&D, and interface with key internal/external stakeholders, including Sales, Market Access, Marketing, Diagnostics, and Operations colleagues, to ensure alignment in a matrix-driven environment.

  • Work with the SD of T&D to develop and maintain a highly relevant, goal-oriented strategic training plan.

  • Collaborate with the Regional Field Training on insights and intel in the field to incorporate into training initiatives.

  • Cooperate and deliver impactful training that improves the competency level of the commercial organization in all areas, including disease state training, brand training, technology training, key account management training, and skill development.

  • Help deliver effective training results during strategic commercial meetings.

  • Accountability for improving the competency level via training of all customer-facing roles in the commercial organization.

  • Partner in the development and execution of all training needed to ensure high-level product knowledge and account-based selling skills, business acumen, and competition, plus proficiency in systems and processes to ensure accuracy in reporting metrics.

  • Participate in and help lead initiatives to support sales success as assigned (e.g. participate in industry-related congresses, local and regional meetings, and medical conferences).

  • Continuously seek and support new approaches, practices, and processes to improve the efficiency and efficacy of training services offered.

  • Adhere to adult learning principles and sound training design.

  • Enable effective delivery of training in live and remote settings.

  • Establish processes that enable timely and actionable performance feedback for trainees.

  • Lead and participate in highly visible, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Build trust and credibility with business partners through regular interaction that is evidenced by feedback and proven working partnerships.

  • Consistently engage with field-facing team members to observe and assess training needs.

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of Veeva, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive.

  • Ensure all training and development activities comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidance with Menarini-Stemline’s policies and procedures and follow Promotional Review Committee processes and procedures.

  • Other projects as assigned by the Head of Commercial Training and Development.



Skills/Knowledge Required



  • Bachelor’s degree in business or science required, advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years of sales, sales management, and marketing experience and 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Experience in a training role including serving as a regional/district trainer strongly preferred.

  • Experience across the oncology/hematology spectrum including Breast Cancer strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge and experience of the end-to-end learning process, i.e., learning needs assessment, program design and delivery, and learning evaluation and assessment as well as adult learning principles.

  • Contribute to a culture of trust, respect, collaboration, innovation, and high performance.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills required.

  • Effectively manage internal relationships proactively addressing issues and providing solutions.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize with minimal daily instruction.

  • Ability to think strategically to improve current processes.

  • Willingness to travel and to attend quarterly meetings and industry conferences as needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse matrix of internal stakeholders (e.g. Market Access functions, Marketing, and Precision Medicine teams) to achieve training goals.
